R&D expenditure in France

Average expenditure in R&D: 0.32% of turnover (1% of turnover for those that have a R&D department…) with high annual fluctuations which is not compatible with a long term strategy.

Research is not widespread in the European food industry and only represents 2% of all industry R&D in France.

Food R&D related to health is being managed more and more as in the pharmaceutical industry which means the same type of resource is required.

Food R&D is mainly short term driven and has to be very operational.
